Handcrafted Holiday Goods

The holidays are our favorite time of the year! So many of our goods have been handcrafted in the bakery for generations with such unique stories. Let us tell you about them!

Signature Stollen Bread

Holiday Stollen bread is a staple German bakery item with roots as early as 1329. Sehnert’s Stollen bread is crafted over a day’s time with the sweetened dough rising and fermenting just the right amount before it’s mixed with candied fruits and nuts and rolled out by hand. After it’s baked, it’s slathered with a generous helping of butter and rolled in sugar to perfect its appearance as the perfect holiday sweet treat.

There are two origin stories about the ingredients and shape of the Stollen bread. The first relates the ‘hump’ on the top of the loaf to the hump of the camel that brought the gifts of the wise men on the first Christmas and that the bright-colored candied fruit and nuts represent the jewels and gifts in the camel’s pack. A second story shares how the raised portion of the loaf is a reminder of the nave of the church and the candied fruit bears resemblance to the stained-glass windows. Whichever story you decide is true, know that we are honored to produce this special holiday Stollen with the utmost care and quality.

Peanut Brittle and Coconut Peanut Brittle

A copper kettle that's been used for generations and roasting our own peanuts makes our peanut brittle stand out from any other you've tried before. The addition of coconut in our coconut peanut brittle is a unique twist that adds another dimension of flavor to a classic favorite.
